Mouth care

Your mouth matters. For one thing, teeth make a smile, and if you have failing or missing teeth you may find it much harder to smile. Smiles do a ton of things for people, like make them friends and let them be good employees.

Aside from your smile, there are many other reasons why it is important to protect your smile. You want to make sure that it is clean and healthy, which will help your teeth stay healthy and sparkling for longer, and help keep you from needing implants or false teeth.

It Prevents Gum Disease

By properly brushing and flossing your teeth every day you help prevent gum disease, and more. The rule for brushing your teeth is two fold. Brush them twice a day, once in the morning and once at the end of the day, and brush them for two minutes at a time. Floss at least once a day, whether you think you need to or not.

You may also want to regularly rinse with a good mouthwash. This can be especially helpful between brushings if you can’t find time to brush more. Sometimes when you brush your teeth matters as well, like waiting a certain amount of time after eating certain foods.

It Helps Prevent Missing And Failing Teeth

A regular visit to the dentist, usually every six months is recommended, can help you get early detection of dental issues, from cavities to mouth cancer. X-rays and other dental machinery can help detect almost any tooth issues. Just like in any other health related problem, early detection is key to stopping and curing many illnesses.

Healthy gums breed healthy teeth, and healthy gums come from flossing and brushing properly. If you notice pain or bleeding in your gums, visit your dentist. It also helps if you eat healthy foods that help big strong teeth, like those with calcium and vitamin D.

It helps Keep The Strong

Strong teeth are less likely to break or fall out. They can be strengthened from within, with those healthy food options. Eat foods that are rich in calcium and vitamin D, like kale, spinach, fish, and foods that are fortified with vitamin D. You can also get a good deal of vitamin D with just 15 minutes spent in the sunlight each day.

Teeth also need vitamin A, phosphorus, magnesium, and beta carotene in order to remain strong and healthy. Sweet potatoes and carrots are rich in vitamin A, and so is spinach, which also contains beta carotene. Phosphorus and magnesium are easily found in nuts and fish.

Strong teeth will stay healthier longer, and last your lifetime. If you do face issues, make sure to get to your dentist and get them worked out so you can keep smiling!
